Now is a good time to learn to play an instrument or sing.
Have you noticed lately the similarities to the good ol 60's? When girls wore mini skirts, the threat of nuclear holocaust and America and Australia were at war with someone. This was a time when a lot of great classic tracks were written. Good old protest songs and the charged up lyrics of great writers like Bob Dylan, John Lennon etc. If you weren't around then, just listen to the endless loops played on TV late at night from Time Life trying to sell compilations of it.more ...

Angel Studios Update for April 2008
The months pass quickly when you’re busy. Totally obsessed with Studio Two, every one loves the sound of the room and comments on it. Customers are happy and sending nice emails. Having trouble keeping up though, headaches abound and slow me down. Hayfever time of year according to my sinuses and everyone seems to be catching colds and flus already.more ...

Christmas Day 2007 Bah Humbug!
Another Christmas is here and what is under the tree...more bird droppings. Motley looks guilty and flies to her birdbath. I'm here alone having a peaceful morning, thinking about making a coffee......Correction now holding coffee and stale breadroll from yesterday. Motley wants her share of the roll...Is there no peace!
Where was I?.. Reflecting on life while listening to Feist.
A new year awaits some of us. John Howard's gone bless his little stone heart. One more year of Bush and then some new clone hopefully with the broken bits fixed and an updated programme.
Whatever happened to the good old days with JFK and the Vietnam war? People knew how to write songs then and some were even good at audio production. We still live in their shadows trying to rediscover the lost arts of valve design and germanium transistors.
There are no filters now on our creativity with computers and the web, Any idiot can now attempt to write and publish a work without quality filters (and does). Faster Cheaper Louder and any other three words finishing in er, point out our direction for the future.
My dream to visit France looks dashed for another year having spent a King's ransom on my new studio, which hopefully will be finished in my lifetime. I look forward to another year of recording a lot of very talented people trying to make million dollar albums on hundred dollar budgets and wondering if they can do it cheaper elsewhere.
Why is it that talented or intelligent people never have any money, while brainless morons are able to run our countries.
Why do most musicians earn less now than they did years ago, yet equipment prices have soared? Why did that plumber who shifted my water pipes earn $200 an hour, while the ER doctor I recorded recently is only paid $27 an hour by the hospitals?
I sip my coffee and wipe the bird dropping from my shoulder. Another year of the same or will this one be better? I think I'll go write a movie...
